Jake Chessum

Jake Chessum grew up in Croydon, South London and attended the Central School of Art and Design and St. Martin's School of Art where he received a BA in Graphic Design. He began working straight out of college for magazines such as The Face, Arena, Sunday Times Magazine. The Face sent him to LA in 1994, and after that he began travelling to America to shoot for US publications which resulted in a permanent move to NYC in 1999. He has shot campaigns for Microsoft, J. Crew, Rdio and had shot editorial for The New York Times Magazine, GQ, and Variety. He has published two books "The New York Look Book", in conjunction with New York Magazine (Melcher Media, 2007) and "Rubbish", a self-published book of street photographs (2009).

Chessum's photographs feature in the 2013 Proud Camden exhibition Amy Winehouse: For You I Was A Flame.
