Ethan Russell

Ethan Russell, always pushing the boundaries of photography became one of the pioneers of the music video working with the likes of Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones and John Lennon. Once described by Pete Townsend as ‘the civilised eye on an uncivilised art form: Rock ‘n’ Roll’, Russell’s photographs have come to serve as historical artefacts in the constantly adapting world of Rock and Roll. An extremely talented and prolific artist he is the only known photographer to have shot album covers for The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and The Who. Russell exhibited at Proud Central in 2008 with his exhibition Let It Bleed- The Rolling Stones 1969 World Tour.
