As a photojournalist Brian Aris holds one of the most diverse collections in modern photography ranging from current events to pop culture icons. The eighties and nineties saw Aris cover the explosion in British music capturing David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, The Police, Duran Duran, Blondie and Madonna, among others. His images have appeared on numerous album covers such as Sting, Dire Straits and The Who. His studio work covers photography of actors, authors, musicians and politicians. Aris was commissioned to take the official photographs of Her Majesty The Queen to mark her 70th birthday and later the official photographs of the golden wedding anniversary. As an editorial photographer, he has photographed members of the royal family as well as documented the weddings of numerous modern icons. He has published two books covering documentary projects. Aris is a contributor to The National Portrait Gallery with a selection of images in a collection celebrating Twiggy’s life. Proud Camden hosted one on Aris’s solo exhibitions Being Blondie: Debbie Harry by Brian Aris in 2010.
