Bill Francis

Bill Francis became fascinated with photography as a child and, with a camera from his friend Ron Cohen, began taking pictures of children near his home in Walthamstow. After leaving college in 1956 Francis and Cohen decided to set up a business together, forming Flair photography in London’s Wardour Street. Flair amassed a large collection of pictures over the next forty years including visiting film and pop stars and nearly every film and music personality in the UK. His ability to make the subject of his photos feel at ease allowed his images to ‘catch the moment’ leaving a legacy in his pictures. Proud Galleries featured Francis in the group exhibition Buddy Holly: The Making of an American Legend in 2009
