Joe Strummer, The Clash, Acklam Hall, Ladbroke Grove, London, 1979

Andy Rosen left school as the Punk music scene was kicking off. Branded by the media as the “Winter of Discontent” referring to widespread strikes and the fact that it was the coldest winter in 16 years. With an interest in photography he started his working life as a rock and roll photographer. He walked into the Record Mirror offices and they gave him a job on the spot.

From 1977 to 1984 he worked with all the major music publications, NME, Sounds, Record Mirror, The Face Magazine and record companies. During this time Rosen also worked for the British national newspapers, the highlight of which was being selected to cover the Queen’s African tour in 1977 for the Daily Mail. His images have been collected by the likes of Peter Morton, owner of the Hard Rock Cafe and Hotels where they are displayed in their suites and public galleries.

Rosen's photographs feature in the 2015 Proud Camden exhibition 'The End of Generation X'.
