Recording L.A. Woman, 1971

Frank Lisciandro has been an avid photographer since he bought his first camera at the age of fifteen. After being introduced to the work of W. Eugene Smith, Robert Frank, Henri Cartier Bresson, and Andre Kertesz, who he considers his main photographic influences, Lisciandro strived to capture the unguarded and spontaneous instant in all his images, coining himself a street photographer. Lisciandro moved from New York City, where he was raised and schooled, and then to California where he attained his MFA with the Motion Picture Department at UCLA. While learning about film, he studied fine art photography with renowned California photographer Robert Heineken. He has since gone on to find great success in the world of film as a writer, producer and director. His most notable works have documented the life of Jim Morrison and given a rare glimpse into the insight of this icon, which Proud Camden presented in the 2011 exhibition The Doors of Perception
