Janette Beckman’s career started with the dawn of Punk in London, working for The Face and Melody Maker. By shooting bands numerous bands ranging from The Clash to Boy George, as well as photographing three Police album covers, Beckman formed an extensive collection of portraits from British Punk. Moving to New York in 1982, Beckman was drawn into the underground Hip Hop scene. While famous for her British portraiture, she now works in all fractions of photography with clients in music, fashion and editorial. Proud Chelsea presented Beckman’s punk prints in Sex, Drugstores and Rock & Roll: A History of the Kings Road in 2011.
