Bob Marley and Skill Cole in doorway, Hope Road, Jamaica, 1975

Few photographers can boast an archive as varied as Kim Gottlieb-Walker who covered everything from musiciansand actors to politicians throughout the 1960s and 70s. She took her classic shots of Jimi Hendrix when she was just 20 and holds images of Andy Warhol and Rod Stewart to her name. From 1975 to 1976, Gottlieb-Walker and her husband made several trips to Jamaica to photograph the burgeoning reggae scene, which resulted in some of the most candid photographs of Bob Marley and the surrounding reggae artists that have ever been taken. In 2011, Proud Galleries exhibited Gottlieb-Walker’s photographs Marley in the exhibition Bob Marley and the Golden Age of Reggae at Proud Camden.
