Model Wearing Ossie Clark
Model wearing Ossie Clark, Plane Crash, 1969
At the age of 17, Jim Lee learned about photography at its very roots through assisting Dutch photographer Jon van Gaalen with the development of negatives in exchange for a place to stay. Through this assistance, a passion for the medium was sparked and Lee began working as a freelance photojournalist, covering such bands as the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. When he was merely 18, a picture Lee took of his then girlfriend, fashion model Bronwyn Steven-Jones was published in the pages of Australian Vogue. By the time he was 23 he had become one of the most sought-after fashion photographers of the time, shooting for Ossie Clark, Yves St Laurent and Gianni Versace. His extensive work within the fashion world and a close working relationship with Ossie Clark made Lee the perfect candidate to feature in Proud Galleries’ Ossie Clark: The King of Kings Road Reigns Again.
