Edie Sedgwick at Bud Wirtschafter’s apartment, May 1965
Whilst still at art college, David McCabe won an international photo competition and as a result got a job at the Mayflower photo studio in London. McCabe moved to New York in 1960 and under the watchful eye of such greats as Alexey Brodovitch and Henry Wolf, received his first Condé Nast assignment in 1963. This rising star of photography was soon contacted by Andy Warhol, who subsequently hired McCabe to document his life. The Factory: Warhol and his Circle by David McCabe was hosted by Proud Galleries in 2011.
